People with goals succeed because they know where they’re going.

~Earl Nightingale

Have you ever considered making your goals or resolutions behavior-oriented instead of number-oriented?

At times, we all strive for magic numbers—whether it is a specific weight, cholesterol level, or pant size.  The problem with focusing on a number is that, even if you do everything perfectly, sometimes that number doesn’t show up right away and you end up feeling disappointed. On the other hand, if your goal is focused on a behavior, such as eating smaller portion sizes at dinner, you may be able to accomplish this goal each day.

In the meantime, regardless of what the scale or label in your pants says, you’ve already begun achieving success. If you continue to be consistent in your healthy behaviors, the numbers will follow.
