Carolina Wellness Coalition Launches Third Year with Successful Fundraiser and Expanded Community Outreach Initiatives
Charlotte, NC, June 12, 2006 — The Carolina Wellness Coalition kicked off its third year on May 25th with a successful fundraiser and celebration at Mac’s Speed Shop Restaurant in Charlotte. More than 600 CWC friends and sponsors turned out for the event that featured live music by Orange Crush, and Mac’s delicious complimentary quesadillas, barbecue and fixings.
The fundraiser brought in $5,125, which will be used to put underprivileged young people through the CWC’s teen empowerment program, Operation Jump-Start. OJS teaches middle school students the benefits of incorporating a healthy diet, exercise, rest and goal setting into their lives.
As the CWC enters its third year in business, we are expanding our community outreach through our corporate wellness program, Wellness on Wheels. Our network of 100+ health, fitness and medical professionals already provides support, education and wellness program management for more than 200 companies and 100,000 individuals. We are equipped to augment a company’s preexisting health and wellness initiatives or deliver a comprehensive turn-key wellness program custom-designed to meet a company’s specific needs.
In recent weeks, we have distributed thousands of our new WC Cards to residents of the greater Charlotte community. They can use these cards to obtain discounts on products and services offered by 30+ CWC sponsors, including: fitness equipment, fitness classes, bottled water, skin care consultations, vitamins, massage therapy, dental services, and much more.
Our monthly e-newsletters and the CWC website continue to provide timely, essential information on health and fitness to thousands of people throughout the Carolinas. Each month, we are adding new tools and features like educational videos to help visitors to our site reach all of their wellness goals.
The recent expansion of our program offerings has also prompted the rapid growth of our CWC team, which now includes ten experts in health, fitness, information technology and journalism. They are charged with fulfilling the Coalition’s mission of becoming "the trusted resource for total body wellness… improving the quality of every human life."
